We provide communities with the machinery and knowledge to reduce the damage that single-use waste plastic is creating in our oceans and natural environment.

We love the ocean and hate to see it loaded with plastic pollution. A healthy ocean means a healthy life for all of us.

Even if you are careful with your usage and consumption of plastic, you would be surprised at how a piece of plastic waste travels across the world to end up on your beautiful beach. What you see on the beach is only a very small percentage of what is in the water. We all have a part to play in increasing awareness and reducing the problem.

In the globalized world, we lived in today, single-use plastic products are imported into the far corners of the world (mostly as packaging) and are often discarded immediately after consumption. This plastic now becomes pollution and in developing nations (especially remote coastal communities) ends up in the natural environment, and oceans.

Once plastic reaches waterways and oceans it is very difficult and costly to retrieve and process, in recycling terminology it is called “Contaminated Plastic”. Unfortunately due to contamination, nearly all the plastic recovered from oceans and waterways ends up in landfills.

The key to stopping plastic from getting into waterways and oceans (or landfills) is to stop people from throwing their waste plastic away. If waste plastic is kept clean it remains valuable as it can be recycled/upcycled into new products.

People think twice before throwing something valuable away, especially in developing nations where every dollar counts. Profit is a powerful motivator.

loop2cycle manufactures specialized low-cost upcycling machines that turn low-value plastic waste into new high-value consumer products.

The definition of upcycling is “to reuse (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original”.

We think that turning a single-use piece of waste plastic into a product that will be used for years to come is just a common-sense approach to reducing plastic waste. Every time an existing piece of plastic is reused, (upcycled) new plastic does not need to be created.

Many people ask us, “how can I help” or “what can I do” and we are very glad they ask the question. If you feel inclined, you can:

  • Spread the message and tell people about the unique loop2cycle project that is making a difference. Share us around.
  • Purchase a product from our online shop. Every product has been manufactured from 100% plastic waste that has been recovered before it had a chance to enter the ocean. Every bit helps.
  • If you have a business that uses or sells new plastic products, consider changing to upcycled products, it is good for business. Reduce your reliance on new plastic.
  • Join us on social media or send us an email. We love to hear from like-minded people with a passion for change.

We are reducing plastic pollution, you can too.
